Washer, refridgerator and A/c unit service calls= $75.00 per problem with no replacement or re[air. All they do is visit, take hte service fee then provide reasons why their premium policy doesn't cover the problem. I am searching now for another compANY, I'M SURE ANYONE WILL BE BETTER THAN HAS.

I paid cash for 1 year of coverage for my home and pool. I had a claim placed against them for a pool heater repair 6 weeks before my contract was to expire. They sent someone out to look at it and charged 60 dollars for his trip fee. He looked at the equipment and said he would order parts. After a week passed he showed up and stated he could not fix the unit. It needed to be replaced. I was notified the next day by American home shield that this repair was not covered. After thinking about this for a week I called American home shield back to talk to a supervisor. They sent another pool guy out. After fighting with AMS for 3 weeks they decided to replace my unit. When the Pool Guy came out this time he fee’d me to death. Please note that this was not a company as such that did the repair. They have NO Business address, Business phone number, website or Business license that I have been able find. When i asked he informed me that he works out of his home. I was charged $25 dollars for removing old heater, $250 for a couple of plumbing fittings and of course the $60 trip fee.

For the cost of AHS Policy, Attorney consulting fees and HIDDIN Cost with replacing unit, not to mention lost work time and amount of aggravation to get anything done, I would NEVER Recommend American Home Shield to anyone. They have made the mistake of calling me a few times to renew my contract. I told them my heart could not handle the stress of having to deal with them again. Hope this helps you before you spend your hard earned money on Home repair insurance.

I paid for a technician to come look at my AC unit that broke 3 weeks after buying the house. Then, I called the insurance. They insisted on a different contractor. So I had to pay AGAIN for their company to come look. They then drug their feet asking for all kinds of documentation about the home, inspection, maintenance, etc….did I mention we just bought the house, so maintenance records are something I would not have. Then they put you on hold forever. I waited over a twenty minutes once. They will pay for nothing. Ever. Their policies are a waste of time.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND AHS - I've had a contract for the past year and a half and can tell IT IS NOT WORTH IT ! I was better off saving the money paid monthly on contract and take care of the problems my self:

1- Patio Faucet broke: it took them a week to call me back for the fix. it was an urgent call and i had to spent money directly with another plumbing company ($600 fix)

2- AC leakage: assigned company came to fix and told me the evaporator had to be replaced (freon leakage). AHS DID NOT APPROVE and told service company to use a spray/ or some kind of a leakage path they pump into the system to temporarily fix the leakeage.

3- AC power: assigned company came to replace fuse on transformer and said wires were original (1991) and needed replacement. usually rodents can cause that. AHS OFF COURSE DID NOT APPROVED IT !!! saying they don't cover rodents damage. Yeah, for a suspicious warranty company like AHS they will always play in their advantage right ? They don't really care about the customer.

Recently renewed policy despite being unhappy in the past… found out their premium has gone WAY up (DOUBLE!) supposedly to cover additional issues (which had been denied in the past causing all our claims to cost more than the $60 deductible). Called about a leaky toilet and was confirmed that it was covered. However their technition claims it was improperly installed (news to me, we've lived here 20 years and it hasnt leaked before) Improper installation is supposed to be covered… but they are denying it based on "pre-existing condition". How can you cover "improper installation" but then deny it if it is pre-existing if you don't do an inspection before you take my money?? Everything in my house has been installed (properly or improperly) BEFORE I purchased the policy. So how can you cover improper installation and then deny based on pre-existing???

DO NOT USE AHS for your coverage. We had a 2 million dollar home and 8 rental properties covered under AHS and all of their contractors provided more damage than good. The damages that their contractors caused cost thousands of dollars and AHS would not provide a refund for these costs nor did they care. AHS provided the worse consumer experience I have ever had - their customer service is abhorrent.

Also, both the listing agent and the selling agent said they would not recommend this FNHW to any of their clients.

We just purchased our home 1 year ago. The sellers provided Fidelity National Home Warranty for us. About 1 month into our home, the A/C went out. We called the Home Warranty Service. They did come right out but told me that my serviced was denied because the A/C had not been properply cleaned. (It had just been cleaned prior to our inspection.) Understand, we also had NHW on one of our other homes for 2 years but had never needed them. This was our first call. The technician did tell me he could put in a temporary starter and NHW would cover that. We did, but it only lasted a week. I called NHW again. This time they told me they did not want my business and would refund my money. When I did get my check, about 2 months later, it was prorated and they had cancelled on both of my homes. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!
